This week, I'm sharing the first of several spontaneous conversations I recorded while attending NORWAC 2026.

Madeline was one of the very first people I sat down with. We found a quiet spot, hit record, and just started talking. I hope you enjoy getting to know Madeline as much as I did.

📍 Astrology isn't just about signs and symbols, it's a tool for navigating real life. Hello and welcome to Astrology with Alisa. I'm your host Alisa Dixon, and I'm so glad you're here. Let's dive in. Today, the sun moves into Leo, and when most people think about Leo energy, they think about confidence, being seen, stepping into the spotlight. And yes, Leo energy absolutely invites us to shine. But Leo also reminds us that sometimes the brightest thing we can do is help someone else shine. So today, I'm excited to start sharing some conversations with astrologers. These were all recorded while I attended NORWAC earlier this year. I asked each astrologer the exact same three questions. But what surprised me was that every conversation took on a life of its own. Different perspectives, different stories, Same sky, different passions. So today I'm joined by Madeline DeCotes, and it feels like the perfect place to begin because without either of us realizing it, this recording helped launch everything that followed. I hope you enjoy our conversation <TAG> hello, everyone. Uh, this Hi the the have who I ever And lo I met at NORWAC and her and We actually have a lot of similar and It's Both Cap rising. What's that? I said both Cap rising. Yes, we are. Yes. And are all business, all very business, All frantic. yes. frantic. Yeah. All frantic. yes. We have been. business. So So my gosh. So... I had this to all kinds Madeline How do, I per- how do I personally use astrology in my everyday life? I am, I'm just actually, like, So astrology-pilled that virtually every moment of every day is just archetypes, archetypes, archetypes. Omens, omens, omens. So, any kind of little experience, I'm thinking, "That was, that was a Mars. That was a Saturn like, "Oh, here I am interfacing with Jupiter." It's kind of hard to describe. Yeah ... But you, I think once you spend enough time with astrology, you know what I mean. You totally, totally do, 100%. Mm. So it's almost more of like, as things happen in your day to li- day-to-day life, that's when you're like, "Oh, Mars moment." Yes. And it's almost like animism, you know, where you're just like, "Oh, It's the spirit of..." Like- Yeah .........you know, you look at this, like the cloudy sky today and you're like, "Oh, Saturn is with us today." You know, it's giving this like heavy- Weary ... cold. Yeah, it's like it's such a... Whereas yesterday it was, you know, like so sunny, gorgeous, warm, beautiful. it was sort of a Jupiter kind of day. Yeah. Like lifting your spirits. Right. So it's, it's that. It's just like the, you know, the vibes- Yeah ... are everywhere. I love it. I love it. So all right, my next question. Which planet has caused the most chaos Oh. I'm, I want to say it's probably Uranus, like the planet of chaos, if you will. That is definitely mine. Yeah. I'm curious how many other people say this. I know. It's like, it's kind of a, it's kind of a cop-out answer, but I will say in my natal chart, Uranus is, like, within two degrees conjunct my natal Saturn, like both in Capricorn in the first house. So it's Yeah ... it prevents me from being as Saturn as I w- Yeah ... as I aspire to Yeah. Yeah. That's wild. I feel like Uranus is, um, very much, uh, top of mind for Just finished my Uranus opposition Ooh Like literally Congratulations you Yes. the day that- ... Uranus went into Gemini because I have a 29 degrees Scorpio Uranus. Oh, wow So the last year and a half has been like boop, boop, boop- Mm-hmm ... and all over the place, So So you're still feeling like maybe the orb, but now it's across signs? Oh, yeah. at least it's left Taurus. It has left- Yes ... the Taurus building. Very- Thank God ... different vibes. Yeah. vibes. Yeah. Different vibes out here. But yeah, 'kay, I had a feeling people would say Uranus, so. all right. There you go. The, the, the predictable nature of the unpredictable planet, right? I All right. So what is your favorite astrology topic to talk about lately? Uh, it's gotta be the decans. Um, I Somebody gave me a bootlegged PDF copy of 36 Faces- Ooh ... by Austin Coppock. Faces- by Austin Coppock. Oh my God. Well, you know I'm gonna publicize this- ... so you're like "Shh." I'm just, saying because he's not- Oh my gosh released the second edition yet, and it's such gold. Yeah. The ... It's so good. Yeah. Oh, I have no doubt. Oh my God. It's... But you can buy his lectures. You know, he's got Yeah lectures on the decans. And you can buy his books as well. you can do that support- And you can buy his book like, I did that. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, definitely buy Austin's shit. But in the meantime, you've gotta read 36 Faces. Yeah. I just, I can't not see the decans now. I'm like, ......I don't Not the same ...I don't care it's in Gemini. Tell me which decan of Gemini. It's so true. Oh my God. Is it the, you know, is it the Apple of Eden? And- Is it the Executioner's Sword? And just for my listeners, right, who may not know what a decan is, what is A decan A A decan Is one third of a sign. So if you multiply three times 12 signs, you get 36 thus the ......36 faces ... It's like ancient Egyptian calendar- it by the elements? ... or- Or is it a different methodology? oh, it's, it's its own I'll have to find to buy your And ask him. exactly. It was by- ...the Exactly. it was by the s- the stars that were rising, like at that time of the year in ancient Egypt. Okay. I think it's like the first, first- Okay ...correlation. Got it. Um, but yeah, just read or get an Austin lecture if you wanna know more. He's brilliant. I sat- Or Or Kira Ryberg, I have to say. Kira Ryberg published a, like a PDF e-book on the decans, So Okay. She also has, um, sorry, just to plug another podcast. Yeah, Kira Ryberg has a podcast where she goes into it. Awesome. So resources, resources, Yeah. Uh, Madeline and I met in Austin Coppock's pre-conference workshop. Yes. All about The, lunar nodes which- The, uh, seven celestial venoms. venoms. Yes, yes. It was an incredible lecture, especially after a long flight and jet lag. But it good to do on jet lag, a five-hour Austin Coffee Lecture. Yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah. It's, uh, the way to the way to really, uh... don't know. I don't even have anything to say about that. It was It was good. Yeah. it. gave me a lot to think about about. All right. Well, thanks so much, Madeline. I appreciate so much, Madeline. I appreciate you. Thank you, Alisa. right. Bye. Bye, everybody. Okay, so that's- That was fun ... that- Yeah, we did it. That... But it was, like, a lot on my arm. Oh, you had to just hold it. Yeah, so I'm like, "Ooh, I'm gonna have to find- Work out something for props." So now I know. There you go. That's, this is why we- But that was great ... film practice. So if nothing else, we did it. I know. High five. Okay. you know, I almost edited that last part out, the little behind-the-scenes moment where we're talking about my arm hurting and trying to figure out the recording setup. But then I thought, "No, I'm gonna leave it in," because that really was our practice run. Neither of us had done this before. We had both come to NORWAC hoping to record conversations, and we were both a little outside our comfort zones. Yes, walking up to astrologers we admired was a little intimidating, but honestly, I was just as nervous about the technology. Would the microphones work? Would I hit record? Would something fail and I'd never know until I got home? So before either of us interviewed anyone else, we met up, set up our equipment, and practiced on each other, And did you guys catch that little high five at the very end? That was just us so excited we actually did it. And another fun thing that came from meeting Madeline was discovering, just like she said, resources, resources, Kira Ryberg and her podcast. Madeline mentioned it during our conversation. So when I got home, I looked it up, and I've listened to a couple episodes now, and she's got some really great content. So if you're looking for another astrology podcast, another resource, as Madeline said, it's definitely worth checking out. And speaking of other recommendations, you heard us talking about Austin Coppock. His pre-conference workshop was honestly one of the highlights of my entire NORWAC experience. He's an incredible teacher, and I walked away with pages of notes and a whole new way of thinking about astrology. So if you ever have the chance to learn from him, whether it's buying a webinar or enrolling in his school, , or just listen to him on The Astrology Podcast with Chris Brennan once a month. He's the regular on there that does the monthly forecast with Chris. So I highly recommend listening to Austin. And one of the things I'm realizing as I listen back to these conversations is that every astrologer looks at the same sky through a slightly different lens, and that's exactly why I'm so excited to share these with you. So over the coming weeks and months, I'll be sharing more conversations alongside my regular Astrology with Alisa episodes. Some are 15 to 20 minutes long. Others are just five or six minutes. These were never meant to be formal interviews. Every single one of them was completely spontaneous, recorded between lectures, in hotel hallways, outside the conference, or wherever we happened to find a quiet corner. The only thing they all had in common was the same three questions. One, how do you personally use astrology in your everyday life? Two, which planet has caused the most chaos in your life? And three, what is your favorite astrology topic to talk about lately? And everything else from these three questions just unfolded naturally. 📍 And I think that's what makes this whole thing so much fun, so next week, I'll introduce you to another astrologer and another conversation from NORWAC And in case you missed it, I'm gonna leave the link in the show notes to the video, the YouTube Live I did with my friend Emily from Emily Lunar Astrology on Sunday. I had the best time joining her on her show talking all about the moon, and Cancer season, and water signs, and intuition, and so much more. Definitely please check out the replay if you're interested. We had a really great conversation, , also about the Barbault's Basket , and how Chiron and Taurus is coming into the mix as well. I think you'll really love that conversation. As always, I love and appreciate you all. Thanks again for listening. Take care, and I'll see you next time
