You guys, I had the most amazing thing happen this week. And in true eclipse season fashion, it completely derailed the podcast episode I had planned to release this week, but in the best possible way, because I just had to share this story instead.
It actually started last Thursday when an independent reviewer reached out to me and said he wanted to review my podcast. He was really just confirming some basic information for the article, and of course, I was incredibly flattered. I thanked him, confirmed the details, and I truly didn't have any expectations beyond that.
And then, just three days later, I woke up Sunday morning to this incredible and pretty comprehensive review of Astrology with Alisa. And when I read it, I couldn't believe what I was reading because this person who doesn't know me, who only knows me through this podcast, somehow captured the essence of what I've been trying to create, the core values, the themes, the way I approach astrology, the reason I do this podcast in the first place.
He talked about how I take astrology out of theory and put it into real life, into relationships, parenting, emotions, decisions. All of these ordinary moments where we're actually living the astrology. And he picked up on something that is so important to me: that astrology isn't just here to tell you what's going to happen. It's a tool for awareness, for recognizing patterns, for understanding yourself a little bit better so you can be more intentional, make better choices, and take a more active role in how you work with those energies.
And he saw all the different pieces of this podcast, the storytelling, the teaching, the conversations with other astrologers, not as different things I needed to choose between, but as pieces of the same podcast.
And I had this moment of thinking, "Oh my gosh, he sees it. He sees me." And maybe even more importantly, he helped me see me.
And one of the things that really got me was right off the bat how he described me: Alisa Dixon, astrologer and storyteller. Storyteller. That word immediately grabbed me because when I launched Astrology with Alisa, I was very intentional about the birth chart of this podcast.
I chose a time when the Moon and Jupiter were together in Gemini in the first house, and that combination has the mark of a storyteller. That was something I hoped to build into the very essence of this podcast from the beginning. So here was someone who only knows me through the work seeing me as the storyteller I hoped to be, which, side note, apparently electional astrology works too.
That's actually what I was doing when I played with the timing and chose the birth chart of this podcast. I wanted to bring a specific energy into the show. And actually, I'm recording a conversation with Skye Barclay later this week all about electional astrology. So stay tuned for that one.
But back to this review. It was almost like someone came along and held up a mirror at exactly the moment I needed one, because I had already been really deep in thought about the future of this podcast, what I've built over the last couple of years, where I want to take it next, how I want to grow from here.
What do I want to keep doing? What do I want to do differently? What does the next version of Astrology with Alisa look like?
And on Saturday night, right before this review even landed in my inbox, I was literally talking to my husband about this, looking back at what these last two years have been and looking at it through the astrology.
Because right now we're literally in between two eclipses, but we're also in this really interesting overlap between two different eclipse stories. I like to think about eclipses in chunks. The lunar nodes move through a pair of signs for about 18 months, and the eclipses follow along that same axis. So for roughly two years, we tend to experience a series of eclipses telling a larger story in the same areas of our charts.
And sometimes, like right now, those stories overlap. One chapter is beginning while another is preparing to end.
We've been living this Virgo-Pisces eclipse story since September of 2024, and when I look back at what that story has been for me, so much of it has been wrapped up in my Mercurian Pisces: finding my voice, building my message, and actually putting it out into the world.
That's the Virgo side of things, doing the work to bring it out. And I was saying to my husband, "Okay, if that was the story of the last couple years, what's the story of the next couple years?"
Well, now the Leo-Aquarius eclipse story is beginning, and this one immediately has my attention because my lunar nodes in my natal chart are at nine degrees of Leo and Aquarius. So this new eclipse story is happening right along my nodal axis.
And right as this Leo-Aquarius story is beginning, this review comes in. Someone comes along and sees me. I mean, hello, Leo, stepping into the light, allowing yourself to be seen.
And at the same time, this whole experience is helping me zoom out, look at what I've actually created, and see myself a little differently. Hello, Aquarius.
And so when I got this review, of course, I immediately started looking at the astrology because I could feel that something was being activated, and I needed to know exactly how the universe was lighting up my chart, and that's where I started really geeking out into the astrology.
So first I went back to Thursday because remember, that's when this whole thing started. That's when Tal, the reviewer, first reached out to me. And on Thursday, transiting Mercury in Leo was trining my natal Venus in Aries. And later that same day, transiting Venus in Libra was sextiling transiting Mercury.
So now I'm looking at this thinking, "Wait a minute. I've got Mercury and Venus coming together in two different ways on the same day this story begins."
And here's another interesting layer. Mercury was actually my Time Lord last year, and Venus is my Time Lord this year. So again, there's this transition happening.
Just like I'm sitting between two eclipse stories, I've got Mercury, my Time Lord from the year I'm coming out of, connecting with Venus, my Time Lord for the year I'm in now. And Mercury has been such a big part of this Virgo-Pisces eclipse story I'm finishing.
So at this point, I'm thinking, "Okay, there are way too many pieces lining up here for me not to pay attention."
Now, I'm not gonna go too far into Time Lords right now, because next week I'm bringing you a conversation with Madeline DeCotes, and we're going to get into all of that.
But then on Sunday morning, I actually read the review, and I literally jumped into action. I immediately started looking at the astrology. I changed what I was doing. I changed the podcast episode I was releasing. My mind was going a mile a minute. I was off and running in a completely different direction.
And so of course, I had to check what my girl Venus was doing. She had to be involved in this somehow.
And yep, there she was, transiting Venus in Libra opposing my natal Mars. And I thought, "Well, that feels pretty Venus-Mars to me."
And then there's this whole other layer I've been watching this summer, and this one takes us into secondary progressions. And I'm not gonna take us too far into how secondary progressions actually work today. That's another timing technique in astrology, and I promise I'll come back and explain it more in another episode.
But here's what matters for this story.
My natal nodes are at nine degrees Leo and Aquarius. But in my secondary progressed chart, they've moved back to right around four degrees, and four degrees has been a hot degree this summer.
We've had this incredible configuration in the sky with the outer planets sitting around four degrees. So meanwhile, all of that has been happening in the sky while my progressed nodes are sitting right there at four degrees Leo and Aquarius.
So I've already been watching this all summer. I knew something was activated. I just didn't know exactly how it might show up, and that's the thing about astrology.
You can know something is activated, you can see something really interesting happening in your chart, but you don't necessarily know how it's gonna show up. Sometimes you just have to observe, and especially when it's your own chart, you can still be completely taken by surprise.
But one thing one of my teachers had told me about progressions immediately came back to me. Sometimes when something is being lit up in your progressed chart versus your natal chart, things come to you through someone else, and that was my first thought because this reviewer had come to me.
I didn't do anything to make this happen. I didn't reach out and pitch him. I didn't ask him to review my podcast. He contacted me.
And this is where I really love to dabble in the magic of astrology because as grounded as I am and as much as I want astrology to be practical and accessible and something you can actually use in your day-to-day life, I absolutely get wrapped up in the magic of it all.
I love these moments when one thing connects to another, and then another, and then suddenly you have all these different pieces of astrology converging all at the same time, and you're sitting there thinking, "Okay, universe, I hear you. I see you."
And honestly, normally this is the point where I'd probably be calling my astrology friends and saying, "Okay, you have to look at this," but today I'm geeking out with all of you.
And I realize I've dropped a whole bunch of astrology terms into this episode that I don't normally throw at you all at once: secondary progressions, Time Lords, electional astrology. There's much more coming on several of these things over the next few weeks, and I promise we'll unpack some of them a little bit more.
But you don't need to understand every technique I just mentioned to understand why this moment felt so incredible to me.
Because someone came along and held up a mirror at a moment when I was already asking myself, "Where am I going? What am I building? What comes next?"
And he saw something in me that I had hoped I was creating, but maybe needed someone else to reflect back to me.
And maybe that's the beginning of my Leo-Aquarius eclipse story.
Maybe Virgo-Pisces was about finding my message, finding my voice, and actually putting it out into the world.
And maybe Leo-Aquarius is going to ask me to step a little further into the light with it, while also zooming out far enough to see what I've actually built.
I don't know yet. We're at the beginning of the story, but I'm definitely paying attention.
And really, that's kind of the point, because we can look at our charts. We can see what's being activated. We can watch the eclipses coming. We can follow our Time Lords. We can look at the transits and the progressions, but we don't always know exactly how that energy is gonna show up until it does.
Sometimes we just have to live the astrology for a little while before we understand the story it's telling.
And so I'd invite you to do the same thing with your own charts right now.
Think back over this Virgo-Pisces eclipse story. What's been unfolding for you over these last couple of years? What's been happening in the Virgo and Pisces parts of your chart?
What story have these eclipses been telling? And what feels like it's kind of wrapping up?
And then now look at the Leo and Aquarius parts of your chart, because that's where a new story is beginning.
What might be starting to shift there? What are you beginning to notice?
You don't have to know what it means yet. I certainly don't. We're just at the beginning.
But pay attention, because maybe six months from now or a year from now, we'll look back and realize this was the beginning of something we couldn't quite see yet.
